you're reading...

You get used to it
You may even understand
The human condition makes such complex creatures of us
You try move on
Smother the pain
With smiles and laughter
And loving company
Learn to live with it until you can’t

You blame yourself
You were at fault
You must become better
So they won’t think so little of you
You wrap yourself tightly around yourself
Never again must anyone see your imperfections
Till you deem them worthy of your tears

Betrayal is an opportunist
And will find a way to steal your tears
Leaving you empty and emotionless
Snatched tomorrows you will never get back
For when you are empty you cannot move
